A customized Barbie transformed into a haunted doll as a dark-humor gift. Created by her daughter, Stephanie, the doll wears her mother’s familiar pajamas and has a frightened expression, frozen mid-turn as she looks into a mirror to see a monstrous hand bursting through her back. An accompanying poem tells the story of years spent searching for answers to chronic pain, culminating in a surreal, midnight revelation. Though the mother's pain remains, the piece brings laughter each time it’s seen.
