Go Back

At first glance, this mixed-media haunted doll piece appears to tell a familiar story of heartbreak and loss. A tear-streaked blonde doll stands on a balcony high above the city, her mascara running as she reaches downward toward a strap suspended between her hands. Through the apartment's glass sliding door, a framed wedding photograph reveals a smiling couple on their wedding day, suggesting a relationship that has fallen apart.

The sculpture is intentionally distorted in perspective, with the balcony and doll elongated to be viewed from below, placing the viewer in the position of someone looking up from the street. Above the scene, fragments of a poem drift through the sky on torn scraps of paper.

As the poem unfolds, the title—Just Let Him Go—takes on a darker meaning. What initially reads as advice to release an unfaithful lover gradually reveals itself as something far more literal. The work combines visual storytelling, forced perspective, and dark humor to transform a tale of heartbreak into a macabre punchline, inviting viewers to reconsider everything they thought they understood about the scene.
